Thinking about hosting your own retreat? Read this.

Over the last decade, wellness retreats have become a popular way to holiday. Retreats of all kinds are now available and we thinks it’s amazing!

They offer a much needed pause amongst the busyness of everyday life and give you a chance to slow down, look within and nurture your body, mind and spirit.

They are a safe space to meet like minded people and make new friends.

And they usually take place outside of your hometown, immersed in nature, giving you the opportunity to explore new cultures and corners of the world in a holistic and mindful way.

These are just some of the many reasons why we create retreats and are so passionate about it. And after hosting eight Cosmic Serpent retreats since 2021 Georgia and I can say that we have been through it all; the ups, the downs, the mistakes and the lessons.

If you are dreaming of one day hosting a retreat, we know it can feel like a challenging and overwhelming task. We truly believe in the healing and transformational power of retreats and want to help you get your magic out into the world with as much ease as possible.

Below we share our top 5 tips to creating a successful retreat:

1. Go to other retreats
This seems like a no-brainer, but if you haven’t been on a retreat yet we suggest that be your first task. Not only will you get to fully receive, but you can observe the process from the moment you begin searching for a retreat to post retreat integration. Through experience you can see what works, what does not work and what you would do differently.

2. Be prepared to invest in your retreat
We recommend saving up and having a budget that you can use to invest in your retreat. Professional photos, copywriting, graphic design, a website and advertisements are all necessary investments that help to get your retreat out into the world and to ensure your message is clearly heard and felt by potential guests.

3. Get clear on your intention
Why do you want to host a retreat? What is the theme? How do you want your guests to feel? What modalites do you want to explore? Getting crystal clear on this will help you feel confident and excited about your offering. Start with whatever you are most excited and lit up about and what feels most natural to you.

4. Co-create
We won’t lie, retreats are a lot of work! We recommend co-creating with another host who can also offer something on the retreat. Not only will this add more diversity to the retreat but it will also mean that you don’t have to do it all by yourself. Once you get to the retreat you are ‘on’ and having someone there to share the workload gives you time to rest.

5. Embody what you are teaching
Once you get the retreat up and going it can be easy to get stuck in the ‘business’ side of promoting it and handling the admin. We have found that the best way to call in potential guests is to fully embody what you are teaching and dive even more deeply into your practices. This not only fosters deeper trust in what you are offering but magnetizes the right people to you on a quantum level.
